Trackbacks
February 29th, 2008Trackbacks for comments seem to be up and working now after some trouble I had earlier. The trackback system sends a trackback for comments once a day. The first trackbacked paper is arXiv:0802.3351.

I’m thinking of setting up a system to send trackbacks to the archive when someone comments on a paper (this would not be retroactive.) What think any of the remaining readers of this blog that aren’t spam robots?
I’ve added a forgotten password feature to scirate. Okay nothing to brag about but its been a while since I’ve done much!
In pondeirng next moves for scirate.com, one direction is to expand the site significantly beyond the arxiv. Basically any publisher who has an rss feed or subscribes to the open archive initiative is free game. Comments?
I’ve added the ability to search SciRate.com. As always comments/bugs greatly appreciated.
I’ve also changed the update to be closer to the update time for the archive. Hopefully this will work, but it may be flakey as I fudge around with this.
Oh, and I’ve also messed around with the database and things should run *much* faster now (assuming I didn’t break anything in the mean time.)
You can now change the default arXiv mirror that scirate.com references. I think I got the bugs ironed out but if you see anything directed to an arxiv.org address which doesn’t function properly, let me know.
I’ve messed around with the menus a bit so that there is now a “User” menu instead of an “Options” menu. Note that you can use this to go your user page. On the user page I’ve added a statistics tab as well as a “similar users” tab which displays your overlap in SciTing with other users.
Okay, I’m beginning to think about a search function now and RSS feeds which would post, say, the top SciTed papers for a day (after a day or so) or for a week (with a gap again). Any other ideas for new features?
You can now set the default archive page to open to by updating going to display in the options menu.
You can now edit and delete the comments you have posted on a paper. Also I’ve added a lot of tabed pages to the paper display page and to the user display page.
As always, let me know if anything is broken.
Nature has a new website call Precedings which is supposed to act like an arxiv for the biological sciences. Oh, and look you can vote for papers
