User Page

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I’ve messed around with the menus a bit so that there is now a “User” menu instead of an “Options” menu.  Note that you can use this to go your user page.  On the user page I’ve added a statistics tab as well as a “similar users” tab which displays your overlap in SciTing with other users.

Okay, I’m beginning to think about a search function now and RSS feeds which would post, say, the top SciTed papers for a day (after a day or so) or for a week (with a gap again).  Any other ideas for new features?

Default Archive

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

You can now set the default archive page to open to by updating going to display in the options menu.

Comment Editing and More

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

You can now edit and delete the comments you have posted on a paper.  Also I’ve added a lot of tabed pages to the paper display page and to the user display page.

As always, let me know if anything is broken.

Nature Precedings

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Nature has a new website call Precedings which is supposed to act like an arxiv for the biological sciences.  Oh, and look you can vote for papers ;)

Logo

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Anyone got some good ideas for a Scirate.com logo?  As is apparent form the website, my graphic desing skills are pretty horrible :)

Comment Preview In Sidebar (and more)

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Yep, it’s a feature a day, this week :)   I’ve added a listing of previous comments onto the sidebar and compressed the sidebar a bit.

I’ve also added a recent vote listing on the sidebar, displaying the last ten scitations.

Update: I’ve also now added an RSS feed for comments.  The link is on the sidebar: it’s http://scirate.com/comments.xml

Multiday Views

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I’ve just added the ability to view multiple days across Scirate.com.  The defaults are by day (standard view), by week, and by month, but for either by week or by month you can adjust the number of days.  Hopefully I’ve tweeked my date code correctly to deal with these different views, but if you notice something awful going on, let me know.

Comments Enable

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Okay so I’ll admit it is a grand experiment, but I’ve just installed a comment system for each paper listed on Scirate.com.  You have to be registered to comment.  As always if you notice anything broken, please let me know.

Database Restructured

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

In preparation for some changes I’ve got planned I’ve restructued the databases I use for scirate.com.  This should fix some of the problems that had arisen with the recommendation engine.  Let me know if anyone sees anything broken.

Also look for new features soon!
